A few days before Easter, we dyed our eggs. This has to be one of the highlights of their year...both Connor and Alaina eat it up! Please excuse the messy hair and dirty faces...we had played hard that day!

Alaina was especially proud of this "beautiful blue".

They were hard at work for over an hour until I finally had to pull the plug!

Connor was most proud of his "dinosaur egg".

My middle is looking more egg-shaped every day!

By the end of the hour, each egg had been dyed and redyed so many times, they looked like the carpet on the floor of Classic Skating...a perfect throwback to the early 90's!

When I first found out I was pregnant, I had grandiose ideas to take cute weekly belly photos and compile them into an adorable montage. I hadn't anticipated that my first trimester would look more like me being a blob on the sofa, so ten weeks passed without a photo. With my last two pregnancies, I felt the beautiful and feminine...my skin was perfect, my hair full of body, my belly practically non-existent until 15 weeks, when it looked like I had eaten too much. This time, I have the worst acne of my life, my hair is limp and dull, and my entire midsection resembles more of a tree trunk than anything! Oh well...

Grandma and Grandpa hosted the annual Easter Egg hunt. The kids were beside themselves with anticipation the whole week! Being the ultimate tease, Marinda bought Grandma something she was sure would be appreciated!

Grandma hates anything gummy, so the biggest gummy worm in the world seemed to be the most obvious gift, right?

"Hiding" the eggs

...and out they come, youngest to oldest!

A cousin showdown to get an egg...

...followed by an act of kindness.

Alaina was pretty excited to get so many dollars!
On the other hand, Aunt Marinda did not appreciate my attempts to infuse some fiber into some of the candy eggs. Come on, people, it's candy for the colon! :)

The train was the source of both joy and heartache this year. The grandkids are getting so big that injuries are almost an inevitability!

We had a great time staying late into the evening that night, and after baths, both kids wanted to go to bed quickly so the Easter Bunny could come. Alaina woke us up at 6, and I told her that she needed to wait until it was light outside to go downstairs. Our kids are great listeners, so instead, they went and found half of the eggs the Easter Bunny left before coming to get us 30 minutes later. The Easter Bunny brought them sidewalk chalk, punch balloons, gummies, bubbles, a stuffed animal, gum, Peeps, and a chocolate bunny. We let them pig out on and play with their candy all Easter Sunday, then the anti-Easter Bunny came and threw the rest away. They were so candied out, I think they were even a bit relieved to be eating normal food again!

Happy Easter!

I have to say, those are some of the coolest Easter Eggs I've ever seen! C & A need to give my girls a lesson or two - or maybe you just need to give me a lesson in patience to have go on for so long;)
Cute and teeny belly shot!
Even I like gummy worms, but that is just NASTY. I love how you captured the kids' reactions to it - especially Altons!
Your pictures are always the greatest! And after last week, I would have gladly accepted some candy for the colon!
I laugh every time I see Chris' silly face!
Easter looked really nice! Looking at your pics, it got me thinking, and I just have to ask - since you guys don't really do the "organized religion" with your kids and don't go to any sort of church, do you teach them about Christ and what Easter is about? Or is Easter just the Easter Bunny to them? Random thoughts...
Great post, as always!
loved the pictures.. thanks for taking pics of everybody... mom's calendar thanks you! speaking of the calendar, i think you are WAY more qualified to do it than me... interested?
how is it possible that your belly is so small and mine is sooooo big at 16 weeks? are we really from the same family?
