Post-Christmas Bear Lake Trip - Image Heavy is an understatement!

Two days after Christmas, we went up to Bear Lake to enjoy our Broadhead weekend.  It was a new experience, having only been to Bear Lake in the summer, and I have to say that I think the scenery is even more beautiful in the winter!  The highlight of the trip was sledding down a monster hill that we had all to ourselves.

The hill was awesome!

The view from the top was gorgeous.

Wipeout!

After many successful individual runs down the hill, Anthony and I decided to go down together.  That freezing snow flying into your face is no joke! I felt like I was being stung by bees!  It made me feel so bad for Elle in the above picture with Dave.  She took it like a champ, unlike me, who was jumping around and screaming as I tried to unfreeze my face and neck.

Aunt Marinda treated us all to some delicious hot chocolate upon returning home.

The next day, Uncle Mike and Uncle Dave treated us to a snowmobile rental.  Once again, the difference between riding a jet ski and a snowmobile was quite stark!

Anthony took Alaina for a ride.  It was freezing that day, so the kids didn't last long outside.

Such a change to have the gross muck and reeds that we have to walk through in the summer covered by a blanket of glittering snow!

Weird!

In the "heat" of the afternoon, we all came in to play some games and bum around.

Janet won some major aunt points by sharing her new stamp set with the girls.

The boys played video games.

Wanting to use up some leftover dough, Kandis and Sean improvised a delicious new creation:  cinnamon rolls with marshmallows and mini Rolos.  I was laughing and had to take a picture, because it looked so absurd, and somewhat unappetizing.

Now who does this little girl look like, stuffing sweets into her mouth with crazy eyes? *cough*maryann*cough*

Beautiful evening winter light called Janet, Sean, Kandis, and I to go out and take some pictures.  I love the pink steam rising from the lake.  I could have done without the snowmobile tracks in every picture, but I do love that they tell a story!

Gotta admit, they're looking mighty tasty now!

In a record two minutes, this whole pan was devoured.  These rolls were divine!  They tasted like cinnamon rolls made sweeter by the marshmallow, but the chocolate actually mellowed out the sweetness and added a deeper, richer flavor.  Sooooo good.

Sean reenacting how they were received with near accuracy.

Even Marshall, the baby who doesn't eat, was chowing down and saying, "Delish!"

Sean posted on Facebook and we all jokingly took bets on how long with would be before Aunt Sharon "liked" the post.  Two minutes!  Now that's devotion to social media!  We love your encouragement and positivity, Aunt Sharon! :)

We had a great time surrounded by family, nature, and food.  What more could anyone ask for?

Yay! I'm gonna have to steal some of these photos for my own blog (when I get around to actually sitting down and writing something for December!)
