I hope you didn't click over here in hopes of a quick update, because there are no such things around these parts! I have a terrible memory if there isn't a picture to go along with it, so forgive me as it's taken a while to get caught up. Things have been busy. I'll just dive right in...
Grandma's birthday was celebrated with our version of Cafe Rio. The adults loved it; pork salad for the kids? Not as big of a hit!
My, we have a lot of pretty princesses in the family!
Attempt #1 of no training wheels. When Connor was a baby, Angela said a line that was so true, and proves to be over and over..."If it's not Connor's idea, it's not happening." True with sitting unassisted, crawling, walking, and pretty much every stage through present day. Anthony and I ran through our regular gamut of encouragement and reverse psychology, but none of it worked since Connor is risk averse. He doesn't even like to ride in the car if we are higher than the valley floor (cried through most of our mountain drive last year). Training wheels are back on.
We died Easter eggs. Alaina had been asking for months, every morning, "Is it Easter today?" She loves the pastel colors, the hunting of eggs, the spring flowers.
I drew designs on them with white crayon that I thought applied to their personality, and they had fun discovering them.
The dads hid the eggs at the annual Broadhead Easter Egg hunt. For Alaina, this is right up there with Christmas.
She hasn't perfected her egg-hunting yet, as she has to open each egg as she gets it, checking for delicious contents.
Connor, on the other hand, already has eyes on the eggs in the tree before his current one has even made it to his basket!
I love this little fake smile. Best one yet!
Connor's current fixation list includes: keys, credit cards, wallets, and MONEY. He loved this gold coin until he realized it wasn't real money, and that he hadn't found any of the eggs with dollars in them! He was bummed.
To the contrary, Alton raked in $14 from his eggs, but had a hard time smiling about all the candy he missed out on! :)
Calm it down on the candy, Marsh!
Shame on me, but this is the first year we've actually put effort into the Easter Bunny. I always wanted a huge chocolate bunny for Easter, and I don't remember getting one, so I bought the kids foot-tall bunnies! I'm a bit of a candy/hfcs worrier, so we usually only let them have a little bit per day, but we let the kids eat their sugar until they couldn't stand to look at it anymore. Then, the Day-After-Easter-Bunny came and threw most of it away. I'm so mean.
It rained torrentially for most of one day, then the sun came out to make for some fun and beautiful photos in the backyard. Pictured with the kids is one of our neighbor kids.
Another set of neighbors, a few doors down, bought a playhouse for their back patio. Their girls and our kids play so well together, so that playhouse sees a lot of action. Most of the time, it is a school, but it's also a clubhouse and a snack pavilion. The girls take special care to keep the outside clean, after covering it all with sidewalk chalk paste, that is.
There are worse views to have out your back door! I actually love staring at this picture because it conveys our local beauty without any of the confounded road noise!
I was planning on making one huge entry, but after seeing this behemoth on screen, I'll do your bandwidth a favor and break it up! Plus, I really just want to go watch Real Housewives in bed. :)
