On the agenda was sidewalk chalk while the guests arrived, then painting, rainbow popsicles, cupcake decorating, and Twister.

It had been raining all week, so we decided to set up in the garage just in case. Sure enough, it began to rain about 30 minutes before her party, so it was the right choice! I felt bad about her party having to be in the garage with such an ugly background, so I surrendered 2 hours to those rainbow streamers!

(Try to ignore the soul-less child in these photos...what is up with that?!)
One thing that I hadn't planned on was the cupcake decorating taking about 15 seconds. The prep work for that activity alone was like 2 hours, and it took only a few moments for the kids to haphazardly dump all the sprinkles on at once. I snapped a picture and it was over!

Twister was a hit! Watching the kids struggle with the concept of left and right was pretty entertaining.

THE CAKE. I've been wanting to have an excuse to make this cake I saw on Pinterest a few years ago. The day finally came!

Can't believe my baby is 6! (I promise the cake didn't really lean like the Tower of Pisa...)

She was pretty shy when her friends were singing to her.

Candle blow-out #4

Ta-da!

Alaina has been asking Uncle Ryan to shove a whole piece of cake in his mouth like he did at Daynarae's birthday party two years ago. Best to try with a 6 layer cake!

She thought it was hilarious!

All the kids had a wonderful time at the party! I'm glad we did it, and also glad to not have to do it again for a while! You know you've had a good day when this knife is in your sink!

The cousins stayed after the party and put on a show for the grownups while we enjoyed the sunset from our back patio, which offers amazing cloudscapes! I'm looking forward to a slower pace this summer!

THAT IS SUCH A COOL CAKE! you are becoming quite the fancy baker! have you been watching a lot of cake boss on netflix?? we do. my kids talk about "fondant" when they play their made up games. alaina had a wonderful birthday this year!
So fun! Can't believe she is 6!!
I am so impressed with this party you threw for her! I agree with Marinda - that cake is so amazing. How long did it take you to do it? So are you going to get this girl in art lessons at all? Or just teach her yourself? She seems to have great potential. I love the "shy" picture! Too darn cute. Can't wait to see her (and the rest of ya'll) in two weeks!
