My 28th birthday was a simple one, full of sentimental milestones. When I was 17 and had just begun my Alanis obsession, she turned 28 and I remember thinking, "28 must be awesome. You've finally figured out who you are and where you want to be in life." I've always looked forward to 28. I had set a financial goal four years ago that I didn't quite make, and I was bummed about that, but we've accomplished a lot since then, so I will accept growth and progress, even if I didn't quite make the numbers. I think 28 will be great!

Anthony's family invited us over for dinner to celebrate. It's a little sad when you start needing three people to light all the candles!

There was so much smoke after blowing them out, the kids said it stunk!

Matching double chins!

I was trying to document Alaina's messy face (she still cannot make it through a meal without wearing most of it), but she kept giving me an eyes-half-closed face. I told her to open her eyes as wide as she could, and while we all know she's got big ones, the result is kind of frightening!

On the day of my actual birthday, we had lunch with Nana, went to the library, then went in search of the only pregnancy craving I haven't indulged yet - jalapeno poppers. If you can't have embarassing food photos in the middle of your third trimester, when can you?

After ingesting a million calories, we decided to walk some of them off and go get some gelato. The walk was longer than expected, and I totally got a rash on my legs from my thighs rubbing together. That was new! Apparently, my exemplary manners have rubbed off on my children.

While we enjoyed our gelato out on the patio, a talented jazz trio played. It was a beautiful summer evening!

The day before we left for Utah, we were treated with delicious cool weather and a pretty rainbow.

Happily, the trampoline hasn't yet lost its appeal! I cannot believe that summer is waning already!
