It's been a big week...the first spent entirely in our desired roles. Though very full, it was incredibly enjoyable!
Saturday was Derby Day, a big day in Anthony's family. Nana bought the kids some adorable outfits, and it was so fun to see them feel "fancy". Daynarae and Alaina put Nana's pink lipstick themselves and did a pretty good job!

Connor was hilarious. He thought he was seriously hot stuff, but I didn't mind, because that also translated to him being quite chivalrous! I told him I wanted to take his picture, and this pose was all his doing. Look out, GQ.

Now everytime I put my hand on my hip for a photo, I think of Mary Ann scoffing at me. :) Where am I supposed to put it?! I feel like an ape if I just let it hang! :P

Monday was exciting, as it was Anthony's first day at the new job. While he was gone, we went to tour the kids' new school and Connor was registered and ready to go by the next day! He has been so busy since we moved in, pinging from one activity to the next, so I humored him when he said that he wanted his training wheels off of his bike. We've been trying to get him to ditch those for almost two years, so I didn't think anything would come of it. After helping him get started a few times, he was off! Alaina said that she wanted hers off, too, so it got a little stressful as they were both trying to learn, I couldn't find their helmets, and I'm not the fastest runner these days. Luckily, Ryan was driving out of the neighborhood and past our house right at that moment, so he helped me teach the kids how to use their brakes, and all was well after that. Neither of them fell once, and they are now (helmeted) experts!

They were both so excited to show Anthony as soon as he got home. I was a little sad for him, since he was only gone for eight hours, but he felt like he missed so much! (Gratuitous shot of our new home...cute, huh?)

As a new stay-at-home-mom, I feel more pressure to have everything in order, but it feels so good to only have to answer to myself. Keeping up the house and meals doesn't feel so daunting now that I have so many extra hours in the day, so it's been lovely to be able to carve out 30 minutes here and there to go on a scooter ride or fly kites.

On Friday, we celebrated Connor's 6th birthday! He told me he wanted to stay home from school, which normally wouldn't fly with me, but since he doesn't really know any of his new classmates yet, I agreed. He told me he wanted doughnuts for breakfast, but wanted to save the big celebration for Saturday when Daddy and Papa could be with him.

He was feeling pretty good about being six.

We had a casual birthday dinner at Nana and Papa's that night, which almost always ends with whipped cream.

Connor spent the night at Nana and Papa's, since Anthony and I had some work to do Saturday morning before unveiling a big surprise! Alaina was a trooper and kept the surprise a secret all morning. I was impressed! In the afternoon, we had cake and ice cream at our house.

...and the big surprise was...a TRAMPOLINE!

Learning how to play "crack the egg".

Pictures like these assure me that there will be injuries. All in the name of childhood! Our ploy to lure new friends has already netted one!

Crack the egg, dad style.

On Mother's Day, I was awoken with handmade cards that said, "I < 3 U" from Alaina and "I love you" from Connor, both with candy bracelets taped to them, which were promptly swiped back as soon as I wasn't looking. Alaina made me breakfast in bed (a pb&honey with prunes on a Batman plate), while Connor fixed my coffee with some help from Anthony. The baby contributed his first gift of all night heartburn.

We spent the day relaxing by the Poudre River.

I'm looking forward to my second week as a SAHM...but I COULD deal with it being just a tad less busy! :)

*I love the girls matching Ralph Lauren dresses! SO cute. I want one. For me.
*And wow - Connor totally looks out of a mag! HANDSOME!
*Sorry I made you feel pretentious about the hand on the hip thing - I think it's funny! Just put it where you used to put it before the hand-on-the-hip thing came about;) Wherever that was...
*What a neat day - your kids both learning to ride sans training wheels and Anthony's first day of work! I bet you'll always remember that day. And CUTE house! I love it! Cute neighborhood too.
*Does Connor usually wear loafers? With shorts?! Happy Birthday dude!
*Those tramp pics are awesome! Great action shots!
Fun post! I'm just overall so happy for you guys and your new chapter in life. Oh, and welcome to the SAHM world!
